Forgiveness brings mental, social, mental and physical benefits to the elderly, and also reduces anxiety, depression, mental illness, heart disease, and blood pressure. The purpose of this study was to explain the forgiveness of the elderly through gratitude, happiness and acceptance with the mediating role of self-empowerment. The research method was descriptive correlations and structural equations. The statistical population of the study consisted of all the elderly members of the municipality centers of Tehran municipality in 1396, of which 950 were selected by cluster sampling. Data was collected by Fordes Happiness Questionnaire, the unconditional acceptance of James and colleagues, Megaculov's appreciation, the psychological power of Ego Strom and colleagues, and the forgiveness of Ehshamzadeh et al. Then, using Pearson correlation and structural equation, the results were analyzed. The results of Pearson correlation test showed that the dependent variable of the research, forgiveness with all the variables of research has a significant relationship (p <0.05). For all these positive relationships, this means that increasing each of the independent variables (appreciation, acceptance, happiness and self-empowerment) leads to an increase in forgiveness. The study of intensity of correlations shows that the strongest relationship with forgiveness is related to their ability and happiness, respectively. By enlisting the elderly of his abilities and strengthening the sense of appreciation, happiness and acceptance in him, one can raise the positive attitude of the elderly towards himself and the surrounding world, the amount of forgiveness and mental health of them.
