The use of a multilingual repertoire (which includes the native language and other languages) as a strategy in the teaching and learning of Italian as a foreign language at the Department of Italian at Lounici Ali Blida 2 University in Algeria has sparked our curiosity regarding the effectiveness of this practice for both students and teachers. Therefore, we deemed it necessary to conduct an evaluation in order to suggest that the use of a linguistic repertoire can be advantageous for both parties involved. However, it is essential that the use of other languages in learning Italian is controlled and guided by teachers in order to avoid excessive reliance on the native language or other languages and promote a progressive use of Italian. To assess the effectiveness of this strategy, we intend to conduct a research study that includes interviews and observations of classroom interactions.
