In the year following the official introduction of Photography (1840), photographic expeditions became widely popular, especially to exotic lands. These recreational excursions were broadly disseminated with the publication of photographic albums. Francis Frith, a British Quaker who travelled to regions of Biblical reference in the Middle East on three occasions, founded the largest printing enterprise in the world. Frith was against industrialization, and only showed the ancient, which already divided Europe into a developed North and backward South. Looking at the recent album Napper I Frith, Un viatge fotografic per la Ibéria del segle XIX, published by the Catalonia Art Museum (2007), all the current issues on photographic documents require renew observation.
