Gestational diabetes (GD) is the most frequent metabolic disease during pregnancy. GD is usually not diagnosed or treated, leading to serious consequences for the newborn and the mother, both during pregnancy and after birth. In Argentina, GD has a reported prevalence of 9.8%. The EDUGEST program addresses a significant deficit at the primary care level; late diagnosis and ineffective treatment of GD. It uses education as its main strategy to improve the diagnosis and care of women with GD.
