This article proposes to study the language of four different generations of Breton speakers in Poullaouen, in Central Brittany. It is striking to note in the same neighbourhood, the same village, even the same family or the same home, the nuances and sometimes the cleavage which separate the Breton language of three and sometimes four generations present. Before providing a qualitative analysis of these different strata of Breton, a quantitative definition of the generations is necessary. It will then be possible to sketch the characteristic features of the language of each age group in order to understand its evolution during the 20th century.
