Aim of the research. The study is based on little known and partly unexplored archival documents, conducted a historical reconstruction of Ukrainian-Hungarian scientific academic cooperation in 1953-1970. The research methodology consists in the application of historical-archival, source studies, chronological methods, as well as methods of analytical and synthetic processing of materials and scientific expertise. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the systematization and analysis of an extensive set of archival sources on the history of Ukrainian-Hungarian interaca demic relations, introduction of unexplored archival documents and, based on them, comprehensive reconstruction of areas and forms of cooperation between academic institutions and individual scientists of Ukraine and Hungary. This study also popularize the Archival fond of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Conclusions. Based on the analysis of archival documents and the involvement of individ ual developments of Ukrainian scientists in the research problem, we conclude that scientific cooperation between Ukrainian and Hungarian scientists during 1953-1970 developed dynamically and aimed at solving important scientific issues. Cooperation in the field of practical implementation of research results was especially fruitful. If in the 50’s of the 20th century and in the early 60`s of the 20th century cooperation was partly familiar with the work of both Ukrainian and Hungarian scientists, then from the mid-60's of the 20th century bilateral cooperation was actualized by the implementation of joint research and development in many scientific areas. The most effective was cooperation in biochemistry, chemistry, physiology, geology, geophysics, zoology, mathematics, cybernetics, and socio-humanitarian sciences.
