Abstract
The author draws attention to a debate which happened in Poland on an occasion of releasing an anthology Polski esej literacki (Wroclaw 2017) by Jan Tomkowski. Along the way, he also proposes supplement of a next edition by some important subgenres of essay: metapoetic, etnographic, philosophical. The texts gathered in two next issues of “Autobiography” from 2018 are treated by the authors as the journal’s input into thinking about Polish essay.
