The article refl ects the approaches to the Latin text of the sequence Dies irae from the Requiem for mixed choir, soloists and orchestra by V. Ciolac, the post-apocalyptic poetic content being conveyed in the musical work by diff erent means, mostly using the rhythm that ensures the sacral sense of the text. Th e author found out that in terms of architectonics, the composer respected the traditional principle of correlating the sequence text of terza-rima stanzas, each stanza with its own music for the text that is repeated. Meanwhile, there was determined the nature of the changes used by the composer, who changed the internal construction of the stanzas (terza) at the textual-musical level as well as the relationship between them. Due to the repetition of the verses pairs in the stanzas, the form is based on the principle of periodicity combined with that of variation. It is noted that the texture is organized in the form of polyostinato, of polyphony layers with multiple duplications and isons.
