Mémoires d’exil : Maria Archer, une femme anti-salazariste au Brésil
Abstract
Résumé : Harcelée par la censure salazariste, la journaliste et romancière Maria Archer (1899-1982) s’exile au Brésil dès l’année 1955 pour y retrouver sa liberté d’expression. Installée à São Paulo, elle travaille avec un groupe d’exilés portugais à la rédaction du journal Portugal Democrático, consacré essentiellement au combat politique contre l’Estado Novo de Salazar. Tout au long des années 1956 à 1963, Maria Archer y publiera plusieurs articles démontrant son opposition aux méthodes fascistes employées par Salazar : police politique, répression sociale et culturelle, censure, propagande. L’étude analyse trois articles qui montrent que l’exil de Maria Archer, loin d’être un renoncement, signifie une renaissance de son combat politique contre la dictature. Abstract: Harassed by Salazarsist censorship, Journalist and Novelist MariaArcher (1905-1982) chose to exile herself in Brazil in search of freedom of expression. Based in St. Paulo, she worked with a group of Portuguese exiles for the Editor of Portugal Democrático, a newspaper devoted primarily to political struggle against Salazar’s Novo Estado. During the years 1956-1963 Maria Archer published several articles demonstrating her opposition to the methods used by the fascist political regime of Salazar; political police, social and cultural repression, censorship and political propaganda. The analysis of these three articles reveal that the exiled Maria Archer, far from renouncing her beliefs, had resumed her political struggle against dictatorship.
