The aim of the work was to describe an assemblage of larger benthic foraminifers from quartz-glauconitic sandstones of the Bystrica Mb. of the Western Carpathian Magura Nappe. 21 samples of fine-grained conglomerates to fine-grained quartz-glauconitic sandstones were analysed from the Bystrica, Oravské Veselé and Lower Luhačovice Mbs. Tests of larger benthic foraminifers are mostly poorly preserved as a result of redeposition processes and weathering. The larger benthic foraminifer assemblages from the Orava region represent the early Eocene (Ilerdian to Cuisian), the middle Eocene (early to late Lutetian, SBZ 13 – 16) and in one case the middle Eocene (late Bartonian, SBZ 18). Age determination of the impoverished assemblage of larger benthic foraminifers from the Javorníky Mts. is early Eocene (late Ypresian – Cuisian) to middle Eocene (base of Lutetian).
