POLÍTICAS PÚBLICAS NA ÁREA DO ENVELHECIMENTO: Possibilidades e limites da atuação do Serviço Social
Abstract
The needs of the elderly population in Brazil, whose contingent has grown apace in recent decades has contributed to resize the public agenda in the country, requiring effective institutional actions under the coordination of interdisciplinary technical teams in which the performance of Social Service is located. ln this perspective the reflections herein systematized aim to identify the performance space of social workers in the accomplishment of public policies directed to attend the rights of the elderly, seeking to understand the possibilities of professional intervention to ensure citizenship to the elderly, as provided in the legislation in force.
