ABSTRACTA remote-controlled hybrid wind–solar powered water extraction system is proposed to address the problem of reliable drinking water supplies for livestock and farming populations in remote rural areas. Structural configurations, working principles, characteristics, and operating performance of the system are analysed. Advantages of this promising system include: a wide range of applications, low carbon emissions, low energy consumption, reduced labour requirements, and suitability for remote control in remote areas. The application of clean energy is crucial to guaranteeing water supplies for livestock production and survival of farming communities in remote areas.
