REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS: NURSES SPEECH AND PRACTICE ON FAMILY PLANNING
Abstract
This article aims to investigate professional nurses’ knowledge and practice involved in women’s health care on "Reproductive Rights", focusing on Family Planning. Thus, we developed a qualitative research, the analysis method used was the Speech of Collective Subject (DSC). It was evidenced that, in relation to Family Planning, it exclusively occurs the distribution and guidance of contraceptives, harming women’s right of choice and decision. We also evidenced the differences between the speech and what is practised by professionals in health units in relation to family planning. It has been pointed out the work based on demand, not reflecting on its doing, as well as not materialize what they deem to be important for women’ s health, which is their autonomy while capable subjects to choose and to decide on their own, assuring their reproductive rights.
