This paper reflects on the act of bringing together the participation of architecture in relevant projects through field-work that was part of an action research undertaken in the rural area of the Guadalajara de Buga municipality. We evaluated the perception and the assessment of the relationship between the city and the countryside in terms of the how the people who are involved in this live together. For the social design process, which is the concept mentioned in the title, approximations of the relationships between architecture, social psychology, and social knowledge are key to being able to understand coexistence as it determines rural-urban territorial features. Two conclusions are reached: that the nature of the results obtained is complex and that there is a need for a transdisciplinary approach.
