POLITICAL POSTING IN MODERN RUNET: OPPORTUNITIES AND RISKS

Abstract

The primary objective of the article is to identify and analyze subjects, technologies and trends of political posting in the Russian Internet segment. The authors analyze the data of sociological surveys, specific examples and peculiar technologies of the Runet political posting. The opportunities given by the specific software are also analyzed, the Metabot browser plugin and Google Trends application used to analysis of Internet political content taken as an example. The analysis reveals the main groups of political posters, their methods and technologies, as well as the significant trends in development of the Russian political posting in 2017–2018. The authors come to the conclusion that there is a kind of “technology race” of political posting in the modern Runet. Theoretical significance of the article is in its thesis about the synergistic interaction of political actors and institutions and the Internet media. The practical value of the research includes the Internet posters typology and the study of the political posting identifying technologies.
