« Avant la manif ». L’aménagement préventif de l’espace manifestant
Abstract
Since the protests against the « El-Khomri Act » in 2016, police forces increasingly try to control the spaces where demonstrations take place. It seems to be necessary because of the evolution of social movements during the last few years: protests are indeed considered as becoming less institutionalized and more violent. The article shows that this control is enforced by refurbishing urban space, by enforcing police controls around the demonstration or by innovative legal measures. This induces a re-evaluation of the right to demonstrate and leads to separating quite clearly the places of protests from the rest of the city.
