Riders: another step towards subordination

Abstract

The article comments on the recent ruling of the Court of Milan that re-qualified a Deliveroo rider as a subordinate worker. The article affirms that subordination is compatible with discontinuity and occasionality of performance and does not presuppose a constraint of making work available. Finally, it contains some reflections on the relationship between hetero-direction and hetero-organisation.
