Orf Case Presentation [Bir Orf Olgusu]
Abstract
It is a self-limiting zoonotic disease which could be transmitted from goats and sheep to human, caused by Orf virus from Parapox family. It is transmitted via direct contact with dead or alive livestock. Since the transmission is through cracks in the skin, the lesions are usually observed at hands and fingers. The infection spontaneously regresses within 4 to 8 weeks. Most of the time, only one lesion is observed. It starts as a firm, reddish-blue tubercle; progresses into a red, seldom bleeding stiffness. It may develop a black scab in the center when it reaches 2 to 3 centimeters diameter. We are hereby presenting a 56 years old female patient who was diagnosed with Orf and employed with sheepbreeding. [Med-Science 2016; 5(2.000): 670-5]
