Introduction: Nutritional interventions to prevent anemia of nutritional origin have focused on the administration of inorganic iron supplements in the form of ferrous salts. TROFINVITAL nutritional supplement, in which organic or heme iron predominates, which is also absorbed more easily than inorganic iron, has been developed to combat this nutritional disorder in Cuba. Objective: To evaluate the results of clinical research studies that demonstrate the nutritional benefits of TROFINVITAL® supplement. Material and Methods: A critical and systematic review of the literature was carried out through a bibliographic documentary analysis. The research was carried out between March and May 2023. Descriptors in Health Sciences were used for the information search, a series of selection criteria were taken into account, and preclinical studies were excluded. Development: The work includes a description of the design and results of clinical studies conducted in various population groups at risk. The effects of the product in children, pregnant women, older adults, and in those patients with pathologies and/or conditions that have an increased risk of anemia are also described. Conclusions: The studies conducted to evaluate the nutritional benefits of TROFINVITAL® supplement to prevent anemia in different populations at risk have evidenced favorable modifications of hematological parameters; however, further clinical studies that take into account the results obtained in previous studies, must be performed
