Abstract
The meeting between Immanuel Wallerstein and Fernand Braudel in the early 1970s was that of two men engaged in writing two books sharing, beyond their differences, at a different stage of their lives, the same ambition to think of history in the long-term on a world scale. A history that was meant to help us understand the present.
