La revolucion de octubre de 1934 en el Andévalo onubense = The Revolution of October 1934 in the Andévalo Onubense

Abstract

La revolución de octubre de 1934 fue uno de los acontecimientos de gran importancia en España durante la Segunda República. Con este trabajo se ha pretendido estudiar la revolución del octubre de 1934 en uno de los focos mineros más significativos de España como es el Andévalo onubense. Asimismo, se ha analizado la posterior represión que sufrió la población de esta comarca. Represión que tuvo un carácter tanto física, con un gran número de detenciones y algunas muertes, como política con los “desmoches” llevados a cabo en los distintos ayuntamientos. Abstract The revolution of October 1934 was one of the most significant events in Spain during the Second Republic. In this paper it is presented a study of the revolution in the Andévalo, an important mining field in the province of Huelva (Southern Spain). It was examined the subsequent repression that the population who had taken part in the insurrection suffered. The repression was marked by a large number of deaths and detentions. As an additional severe consequence, lots of mayors, councilors and many others chairpersons of the province were struck off their positions, a process that is known as «desmoche» in Spanish historiography.
