Topika skromnosti a kategorie „nevyslovitelného“ v díle sv. Terezie z Ávily. Jazyk jako místo zrození paradoxu

Abstract

The mystical language is described by its paradoxical nature between the necessity of expression and the impossibility of finding words to represent it. We intend to analyze some possible connections between the paradox of „ineffability“ and some rhetorical devices, which are connected to the topos of humility as described by Ernst Curtius. Teresa might have used some of these devices, such as captatio benevolentiae, as an attemt to aprehend her experience.
