Intellectual property in the e-learning environment: towards an initiative for the free availability of textbooks In Egyptian universities on the Internet: Cairo University as an example

The problem of the study is to identify the policies followed by universities to protect the intellectual property of faculty members and researchers with intellectual and scientific creativity and to preserve the electronic content provided by them, either to serve e-learning programs and convert academic courses to electronic form or to build the digital repository, digital library, electronic memory, or others. One of the forms of preserving, organizing and making available the institution’s creations... The study relies on the descriptive survey approach with the aim of identifying these initiatives, plans and projects. As for the field aspect of the study, it is limited to Egyptian universities and the extent of their progress in the e-learning stream and their measures related to the preservation of intellectual property, with a focus on Cairo University. The initiative proposed by the researcher. It is an initiative to make Open Textbooks freely available in Egyptian universities on the Internet, while studying the components of their application to Cairo University as an experimental model.
