Petrophysical characterization of lithotypes of Bahía Honda region, western Cuba
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to contribute to the petrophysical generalization performance of Bahía Honda region for mineral exploration purposes. For this purpose, the lithotypes present in the region were characterized, based on the existing magnetic, gravimetric and radiometric surveys, at a scale of 1: 100,000, as well as the values of density, magnetic susceptibility and gamma intensity measured in a significant number of pits. Statistical processing of aforementioned physical properties assisted the Petrophysical characterization. Linking physical properties with existing geophysical surveys allowed obtaining maps of spatial performance of these properties, not only for the lithotypes described, but also in the geological formations present in the area, which constitutes an important tool for mapping work, geological and mining prospecting carried out in the region.
