An Interwar Project – The First Theatre School in Târgu-Mureș (1934-1937) The history of the first dramatic art school in the Mureș region marks a symbolic moment, before the formation of the first generations of actors within the Hungarian Music and Dramatic Art Conservatory, created in Cluj, in 1946. This precedent, supported between 1934 - 1937 by the Mayor of Târgu-Mureș, Emil Dandea, was carried out with the involvement of cultural personalities such as Maximilian Costin, the director of the Târgu-Mureș Municipal Conservatory, and Gheorghe Chirvăsuță, a diction and dramatic art teacher. Although stopped by the historical changes determined in Romania by the dictatorship of King Carol II (1938-1940) and by the close beginning of the World War II, this first dramatic art school in Târgu-Mureș can be considered an important precedent in the history of the University of Arts in Târgu-Mureș.
