The Montbaron rural aristocratic residence was discovered by aerial photography, but is unknown from archives. At the centre of the 11th - 12th century domain, two contiguous enclosures, a well, silos, pits and a mortar covered area have been discovered. At the end of the 12th century, these features are filled in and two ditched platforms are established. On one of these, a rectangular building measuring 10 m x 6 m is built, with a small square corner tower adjoined to an angle. The features on the other side of the platform have disappeared, except for the bottom of some pits. Natural subsidence brought about the destruction of the site before the mid 13th century. A bread oven is the last remnant of a construction built on the site following its leveling. The study is accompanied by metallographic, palynological and anthracological analyses.
