For many years, the rational approach to the pharmacological treatment has been perceived only as a part of medical practices and education of health care professionals. Teaching of the rational use of medications for the population (patients and people, looking after them) remained an ignored area of clinical pharmacology and pharmacological treatment. Modern instructions on medical applications inserted into the medication packages are quite often formal, obscure and passively rendered to the patient, thus, they don't perform their main function teaching of the rational use of medications. The most popular form of patient informing of the medications is the printed materials elaborated in accordance with the modern requirements: reliability, independence and clarity of presentation. The present article describes the new information and educational project for teaching of the correct use of medications for the population. The project consists of information booklets dedicated to the education of healthy lifestyle, as well as inserts, which should provide the patients with modern information about the medications prescribed for them. Within the framework of preparation of the national pediatric formulary that is conducted by the Russian union of pediatricians, they have elaborated the inserts for the teaching of the rational use of medications, which are most often prescribed in pediatric practices, for the patients and people, looking after them.Key words: rational drug therapy, clinical pharmacology, medication formulary, good and harm of medications, patient education.
