INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEER ASSOCIATIONS

Abstract

The types of volunteer associations in the international arena are considered. The nature of volunteering is analyzed. The author reveals the essence of volunteering. At the same time, the main international associations are noted. The need to integrate volunteer activities not only across the country, but also across the world is emphasized. This is especially necessary during the period of social upheavals, natural disasters, pandemics, mental anxiety of certain social groups. The events of recent months associated with the global coronavirus pandemic, as well as regional events in the South Caucasus associated with the resumption of hostilities around Nagorno-Karabakh, show how important volunteer assistance is in real life situations. Azerbaijan has solid practical experience in volunteering even in the European Games 2015, then a year later - in the Islamic Games. Today, volunteers are actively working in the social service system, which has no analogue in the world - this is ASAN-Hydmet (Integrated Social Service). The continuous recruitment of volunteers makes it possible to gradually train a cadre of volunteers for all forms of social service in Azerbaijan.
