Overview of worldwide earthquake disasters in 2019

Abstract

Based on the earthquake disaster data collected from different sources, this paper sorts out the global seismic activities and disasters in 2019. Plotting the distribution map of the hazard earthquakes, describing the earthquake information and disaster situation of earthquakes with casualties. Accordingly, making a detailed description and performs analysis for the major earthquake disaster events, and summarizing the main characteristics of earthquake disasters. Compared with the previous earthquakes, it is found that the seismicity is weak in 2019, and the occurrence rate of strong earthquake is greatly reduced. In 2019, the earthquake disasters are characterized by a small number of casualties, but high frequency and wide range. According to this situation, this paper puts forward corresponding measures and suggestions for earthquake disaster prevention, which emphasizes that the future earthquake prediction and prevention work are still important and urgent.
