Rostislav Visochan was born in 1984 in Novy Rozdol, in the Lviv region. He studied at Lviv Theological Seminary, the Ukrainian Catholic University, and the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium and was ordained in 2012. As a military chaplain he worked with soldiers from various military units, including the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Ukrainian National Guard, the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service, volunteer battalions of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army and the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps. Visochan is the head of the Section for Chaplaincy in the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the Department of Military Chaplaincy of the Patriarchal Curia of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
