Catherine de Sienne, prophétesse d’un renouveau spirituel
Abstract
Catherine of Siena (1347-1380) is nowadays considered a mystic more than a prophetess. However, she became soon aware of having received a prophetic investiture and mission from God: to get the pope, the clerics and the christian people to follow her into a movement of reform whose positive outcome was, to her mind, doubtless, although she had to face up with the difficulties of present times and the reluctance of those concerned. The high conception that she had of her prophetic role was based on the conformity between the divine word and her own predication, a conformity that was ascertained through prayer and recognized by her disciples, both clerics and lay people.
