The treatment of the public and environmental health from the managerial social responsibility in Ecuador
Abstract
Background: the treatment of public and environmental health from the managerial social responsibility is an incipient, very sensitive topic and of great current debate in the Ecuadorian context, because the companies and industries should assume actions and positive attitudes and responsible for the environment and the community, referring to the spill of residuals in the sources of drinkable water with which the population count on. Objective: to assess the level of attention that the companies have with the indiscriminate spilling of residual waters towards the communities that surround it. Methods: bibliographical search about the topic was carried out in the databases Scopus, Latindex and SciELO. Thirty-two documents that treated the relationship public company-health were founded, 24 of them were original articles, 6 revision articles and 2 thesis of master studies. Describers in Sciences of Health were used: residual waters, public and environmental health, and community. Development: the different consulted documents coincide in that the companies should assume a preventive approach that looks after the health problems of the communities and favor the environment, to foment initiatives that promote bigger environmental responsibility and to favor the development and the diffusion of the respectful technologies with the environment. However this does not possess materialization evidences in the Ecuadorian context. Conclusions: it could be determined that the companies and Ecuadorian industries do not present the created objective conditions to solve the problems of public and environmental health caused to the communities where they pour their residual waters.
