Inquiring into the process of armed conflict and political violence in the school acquires great relevance for the formulation of analysis strategies for the processing of traumatic pasts loaded with intense pain and impact in Colombian society. Therefore,this paper seeks to discuss the main elements that allow formulating a research proposal around the life stories of the teaching subject and how they intertwine with the armed conflict and political violence; under this framework, the life stories of teachers acquire great preeminence by being carriers of a political subjectivity that is intertwined with the processes of teaching and learning, in which they are constituted, privilege, consolidate or make invisible glances about the traumatic past, the experiences they live, the memories they convey and the knowledge they spread. The above will be addressed from the presentation of the advances of the doctoral project titled: Life stories of teachers: trajectories of pasts in conflict, political violence and school that will show the framework in which the research proposal is given, the conceptualizations, approaches, and importance of the context addressed as part of the formulation of the research problem; Likewise, reflections on the investigative process in the framework of the Doctorate will be presented in the research lines from which it is possible to approach this research field.
