The paper discusses the importance of the client-centered practice in the rehabilitation of aged people with hemiparesis and also presents three medical models of decision-making adapted to Occupational Therapy. It highlights the occupational therapists’ need to acknowledge the patient´s perception as an essential component for the effectiveness of the therapy. The perspective is that both occupational therapists and clients should share the responsibility for goal setting throughout the intervention planning.
