A variant of trichophyton rubrum in Thailand

Abstract

In January 1969 a culture of a specimen from the mycotic nails of a patient grew Trichopyton rubrum showing variations from that usually found in Thailand and from those strains found in Nigeria and Hong Kong. The prominent characteristics of the Thailand variant strain were the flat, powdery colonies with the production of numerous chlamydospores instead of a macroconidia formation.
