How to Examine the Cultural Appropriation of Mountain Ranges? Travels to the Tatras

Abstract

The scientific literature on the cultural appropriation of the Tatras is still dominated by the national perspective. The writer of the paper suggests that the physical particularities of the mountain range should be taken seriously and, when researching them, a consistant territorial and historical approach should be used, while at the same time she seeks support in the concept of synoptic nature of Central European culture, as it was formulated by Peter Zajac.
