Abstract Subject of research: Quality of life in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension Aim of the study: To analyze the quality of life in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension. Material and methods: The material consisted of compact and periodical publications on the subject of pulmonary arterial hypertension and the quality of life of patients struggling with the above disease. Content analysis applied. Results: The quality of life is the individual's perception of his or her position in life in the context of culture and value systems accepted by the society in which they live, and in relation to their life goals, expectations and interests. Pulmonary arterial hypertension is a rare form of pulmonary arterial hypertension that is genetically determined, can be caused by drugs or toxins associated with connective tissue disease, HIV infection, portal hypertension, and congenital heart disease. Most often it is young people - up to 35 years of age - and 2/3 of cases are women. Pulmonary arterial hypertension significantly affects the quality of life of patients - it lowers the level of this indicator. Available studies show that despite the longer survival of pulmonary arterial hypertension patients, their quality of life (QoL) deteriorates as the disease progresses. The goals of PAH therapy have broadened from increasing survival to improving health-related quality of life. The conducted analysis of compact items and articles on this topic showed that pulmonary arterial hypertension significantly affects the quality of life of patients and reduces it. The more the symptoms of the disease are felt, the lower the quality of life of the sick person. Treatment and applied therapy contribute to an increase in the quality of life based on health. Conclusions: Pulmonary arterial hypertension affects the quality of life of patients and reduces it. The more the symptoms of the disease are felt, the lower the quality of life of the sick person. Treatment and applied therapy contribute to an increase in the quality of life based on health.
