In this interview, Ana Isabel Lobo Graña, Executive Editor of the well-known publisher specializing in children’s literature (CL) Alfaguara Infantil y Juvenil, provides information about the degree of intervention of CL publishers on the translation process of this literary genre ­that already in the 70s became an essential part of the literary polisystem and nowdays occupies an outstanding position in the field of Translation Studies. Thus, a number of aspects of unquestionnable interest to the discipline are discussed: interdependent relationships in the chain author-publisher-translator-reader, reasons why the publisher selects a specific manuscript for translation, the reader’s expectations about the translation, degree and types of restrictions on translator decision-making (in-visibility), impact of the specific social, cultural, historical and geographical context in which translations are published on the reader’s likes and interests, impact of the reader’s profile, the translator’s and the translation editor’s academic background, experience and work circumstances on the translation product…
