Abstract

La Rivista dedica la sua sezione “Storia e Memoria” di questo numero all’inchiesta privata condotta in Sicilia nel 1876 dai due studiosi toscani Leopoldo Franchetti e Sidney Sonnino, diventati poi parlamentari italiani. I brani selezionati sono tratti specificamente dal primo volume dell’inchiesta – Condizioni politiche ed amministrative della Sicilia – curato da Franchetti. Parole chiave: Franchetti, Sicilia, 1876, indagine, società This section History and Memory offers a selection of excerpts from the investigation carried out by Leopoldo Franchetti and Sidney Sonnino in 1876 in Sicily. In particular we focus on the first volume entitled “ Political and administrative conditions of Sicily” curated by Franchetti. It represents an historical document of precious value, as it demonstrates the link between the roots of mafia phenomenon and the specifities of social relations and economic conditions in Sicily after the Unification of Italy.
