Sociología de la supervivencia: las adolescentes en situación de comercio sexual en Lima

Abstract

This study is based on an extensive fieldwork carried out through several popular areas of Lima in which in situ observations and detailed interviews with adolescent girls involved in the sexual trade of this metropolis are discussed. The major aspect of this article is to offer some explanations of this phenomenon’s existence by distinguishing firstly between the factors of entrance of adolescents into this survival activity and then the factors of maintenance within this situation. An empirical data analysis, based on interactionist sociology, allows us to see that different kinds of factors explain both temporalities (before and during) of this marginal sexual practice.
