The difficult making of a biography: Gallarati Scotti tells on Fogazzaro

Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyze the difficult making of the “Vita di Antonio Fogazzaro” written by a friend and pupil of Fogazzaro, Tommaso Gallarati Scotti. The discussion about the problems, due to changes in different versions of text, in re-construing the exact authorial will permits an attentive determination of the relation between Fogazzaro and Gallarati Scotti and shows up the contrast of these two modernist intellectuals with the catholic hierarchy.
