BULUS AR-RАHIB AND HIS THEOLOGICAL WORKS

Abstract

The present article introduces us to the life and theological works of Bulus ar-Rahib (Paul of Antioch), a Melkite bishop of Saida (Sidon) and a well-known arabophone apologist of the 12th or 13th century. The author treats questions dealing with the biography of Bulus, the authenticity of his writings as well as their general content. He also informs the reader regarding the published editions of Bulus’ treatises and their translations into western languages. This article is to be viewed as preparatory to a future one which will attempt to further research Bulus’ theological thought as well as to the Russian translation of his works, an edition of which is in preparation at the present time
