Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is classified according to the cause, the stage of glomerular filtration and albuminuria. Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) according to the classification of glomerular filtration (GF) and the quantification of albuminuria. The kidney disease (KD) is defined with GF ≤60 mil/min, whereas renal insufficiency (RI) covers stages G3 onwards. The level of urinary albumin excretion, associated with the speed of glomerular filtration, sets the prognosis of chronic kidney disease. A significant percentage of patients (20 to 48%) present a reduction of the glomerular filtration rate without significant se albuminuria.
