Modern engineering education: to the problem of traditional educational paradigm change and language proficiency of future specialists
Abstract
The article focuses on the potential development of the national training in engineering. The author has investigated the most fundamental issue of training engineers - transformation of the traditional educational paradigm. There is also a critical analysis of the technocratic, knowledge-bound educational paradigm, as well as a view on the competence-based approach seen as one of the potential methodological basics for engineering training in Russia. As part of the methodological requirements for the competence-based approach, the article provides proof to the need for language skills training in future engineers.
