Placenta percreta presenting with marked hemoperitoneum in the first trimester of pregnancy: A case report

Abstract

Placenta percreta is defined as abnormal infiltration of placental tissue through the uterine wall. Placenta percreta detected in the first trimester of pregnancy is very rare and only few cases were reported. Here we present a case of 27-year-old female patient G3P2, pregnant 10 weeks with previous 2 cesarean sections presented with marked hemoperitoneum. Abdominal exploration revealed placenta percreta invading the uterine scar causing uterine rupture. Conservative management was done with uterine repair and bilateral uterine artery ligation. No placental tissue was left in situ. The patient was discharged from the hospital in a good health.
