Abstract. Introduction. The modern world requires all businesses to solve the most common problems, such as sustainable development and efficient operations, the existence of businesses and the prevention of bankruptcy. Business leaders are forced to look for better and more effective tools to solve problems very quickly, as sometimes they can occur quite suddenly. Therefore, to achieve the goals and objectives of the company, it is necessary to understand which types of strategies exist, what are the features of each of them, which strategies will be the best to solve a certain range of problems. In some cases, however, current conditions of development require combining several existing strategies and exploring the potential of such combinations, for example, to reduce time on making effective decisions. Purpose. The purpose of this study is to identify an effective management tool in the form of one strategy that combines the enterprise ability to develop and at the same time the maintenance of the company’s position among competitors, as well as determine the location of this new complex strategy among other existing varieties of strategies. Conclusions. some new definitions of several types of strategies were given («strategy», «enterprise development strategy», «competitive strategy» and «competitive enterprise development strategy»). A new classification of strategies has also been developed (“strategy”, “enterprise development strategy”, “competitive strategy” and “competitive enterprise development strategy”. Also, a new classification of strategies has been developed.
