The involvement of high-level comprehensive universities in teacher training is an inevitable requirement for the building of a powerful country in education. Facing the new requirements of the new era, the National Program of Excellent Primary and Secondary School Teacher Cultivating has provided direction for high-level comprehensive universities to actively participate in the cultivating of teachers for basic education, in order to balance the conflicting demands of normativity and specialization in teacher education and bridge the gap between ideals and realities. To create a high-quality teacher force for basic education, comprehensive universities can strengthen cooperation with relevant normal universities, provide systematic teacher education courses for students who are passionate about teaching, leverage their extensive program offerings and high-quality talent base, mobilize diverse social resources, and optimize the selection mechanism for graduate-level talents. The involvement of comprehensive universities in teacher education can effectively improve the knowledge, ability and educational quality of non-normal students who are willing to teach, and strengthen the basic education teacher force in China, as well as creating a reserve of talents and creating a good social atmosphere of respecting teachers and valuing education.
