Development and qualification of formal employment in southern Brazil

Http://dx.doi.org/10.5007/2175-8085.2016v19n1p1 This article analyzes the evolution and the qualification of formal employment in the Southern Region of Brazil, from 2005 to 2014. This is a descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, of the Annual Report of Information. The results showed that the microregions of the South of Brazil obtained an increasing evolution of the formal work stations during this period. The activities of Services, Manufacturing and Trade Industry obtained the highest relative participation rates in total formal jobs; And Civil Construction had the highest average annual growth rate. There was an increase in the relative participation of women in the labor market and there was an increase in the level of education of workers. The number of formal jobs receiving up to five minimum wages has increased while that of those receiving from five to more than twenty minimum wages has declined.
