A presentation is provided of the activities carried out to celebrate World Oral Health Day for the first time in Cuba. A description is made of the program developed by the Cuban Society of Dentistry, which includes graduate courses; a poetry writing contest with the motto "Smile for life" intended for dental professionals, technicians and students; a poetry and drawing contest for elementary and junior high school students; and a central session with lectures, round tables, award ceremonies and a cultural activity. All of the above developed in a climate of unity and recognition to persons and actions. In our opinion events such as these could also contribute to the consolidation of strategies aimed at improving oral health in our communities. Key words: World Day, oral health, Cuba.
