Radar waveform design and processing using joint amplitude‐frequency‐phase modulation
Abstract
Abstract Radar waveform design is facing severe challenges with the development of radar countermeasure technology, such as easy access to intra‐pulse modulation property and poor anti‐recognition capabilities. Both frequency modulation and phase modulation can improve the waveform countermeasure performance in existing research. Amplitude modulation can also improve the anti‐identification ability of the waveform by increasing the signal complexity in the time domain, which is a newly developing modulation method. A joint amplitude‐frequency‐phase modulation (JAFPM) signal is proposed in this study, which has good waveform confrontation potential due to high waveform complexity and randomness. Besides, an echo processing method which combines matched filtering and compressed sensing reconstruction is further proposed based on sparse sampling characteristics of signal. Simulation results show that more accurate target information can be obtained compared with matched filtering processing under the condition of a low signal‐to‐noise ratio, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed JAFPM radar waveform design and processing method.
